Well, and somewhat terrifyingly, said. What is an individual citizen to do aside from stewing in impotent rage?

It's a very good question you ask. Staying informed is very important. The administration's "flood the zone" strategy is predicated on making it too hard to keep up or so overwhelming that people give up. Knowing what is happening and informing others is what turns the tide of public opinion. Next, push your political representatives to act. The branch missing in action here is Congress. If your reps and senators are speaking out, support them or let them know what really matters to you. If not, then let them know you know. It is hard to influence Congress, but they are hoping no one notices they are doing nothing. Only exposure can compel them to act. (On a sad side note, sometimes social media can be the most effective channel. Many a modern politician concerns themselves more with bad social media replies than constituent comments.)
